HBJ's 2017 Landmark Awards: Restaurant Winner & Finalists

HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL

Finalist: Union Kitchen

The Union Kitchen - Ella is a significant addition to Houston’s restaurant scene for several reasons. The restaurant’s fourth location is housed in the Garden Oaks area, a fast-growing neighborhood just north of the Heights outside the Interstate 610 Loop. The Union Kitchen - Ella was designed to feature global cuisine with a Southern hospitality twist, and a fifth location is already in the works.

The Union Kitchen - Ella is the first Union Kitchen location built within a renovated shopping plaza. The 5,100-square-foot restaurant’s space previously occupied two restaurants.

The Union Kitchen - Ella features a large bar with aged brick and a marble top with tables built from a local, 100-year-old oak tree. The bar’s walls are lined with shiplap planks, a popular interior design feature, and the restaurant can seat more than 200 guests. The Union Kitchen - Ella is a much-needed hotspot for Garden Oaks, an area that an increasing number of Houstonians are calling home.
