Washington Avenue Building Trades Hands

HOUSTON CHRONICLE

Local realty shops Baker Katz and Braun Enterprises have teamed up to buy one of Washington Avenue's historic properties.

The two-story brick building from 1920 is in the 1900 block of Washington at White Street. It fills 17,000 square feet and has close to 13,000 square feet available for lease.

With ample parking, the space "is a perfect fit for the chef-driven restaurants that are migrating to the area," Baker Katz Principal Kenneth Katz said in an announcement.

"Our team is continuously looking for unique properties that will thrive in the Houston area, and we are excited to purchase this building in partnership with Braun Enterprises as it truly illustrates the history of Houston," he said.

The purchase price was not disclosed.

Baker Katz is a commercial real estate brokerage specializing in representing retailers. Real estate investment firm Braun Enterprises has become known for repurposing offbeat urban properties and filling them with up-and-coming restaurants and other businesses.
